WeiterlesenBlog: Dive, travel, connect & protect
Our English blog „Dive, travel, connect & protect“ presents photos, videos, experiences, research, opinions, and ideas from Devocean Pictures as well as fellow ocean and nature lovers and like-minded initiatives. Our little stories are meant to take you out into the world as well as bring the world and its (natural) wonders back to all of us.
Dive and travel
Follow our travels to guide and guard to destinations all around the world. We dive into unknown territory and broaden our horizons. In this blog, we want more than just to document, we follow our curiosity, learn from others, and grow with each and every experience.
Connect and protect
We present people, projects, products, and possibilities to inspire change: live, love, and learn from one another. Life is a constant search, a never-ending journey we like to share. We aim to continuously evolve and educate (ourselves) – in and outside the water. Our actions affect others, affect the world. Change is possible to protect our blue planet.
Both blogs
„Dive, travel, connect and protect“ is fuelled by our passion, but our mission doesn’t come without detours, mishaps, and constant challenges and we also like to point those out. After all, life is a journey, a constant learning process. Stories in our second blog Abgetaucht are particularly reflecting on those topics. With lots of love and devotion, we are painting an even more personal picture of the weird and wonderful world we are living in (German only).
Round Batfish (Platax orbicularis)
In this minute of visual meditation, we invite you to glide with a school of round batfish (Platax orbicularis) over a beautiful reef in Wakatobi. To avoid confusion with the other batfish of the family Ogcocephalidae, members of the group known as anglerfish, these round batfish are often referred to […]

WeiterlesenTrumpetfish: Aulostomus chinesis

Their scientific name „Aulostomus“ is derived from the Greek words for flute (aulos), and mouth (stoma). Looking at the creature, one can sort of understanding how they got […]
WeiterlesenSquids: Upside down and fast backwards
Squids can swim upside down and fast backwards to get away from it all. These cephalopods range from pygmy squids of 10-16 millimetres to giant squids of more than 10 meters. As a member of the „Savvy softies: Octopus, cuttlefish and squid“ they are highly intelligent invertebrates. Upside down Squid […]

WeiterlesenRubbish wave: Looking for solutions for small islands
We experienced a flood of waste being washed into the ocean in Bali earlier this year. At the same time, we received a call for help from Long Island (Andaman Islands, India) and started looking for solutions for small islands crushed by a rubbish wave. We’d like to present some […]
WeiterlesenFrogfish: The odd one out
Frogfish, a.k.a. anglerfish, are part of the weird and wide group of ambush predators (They got the look). Somehow frogfishes stand out turning them into the all-time favourites of divers and underwater photographers. Some call them ugly, we find them fascinating for many reasons. Frogfish: The odd one out, having brought the […]
WeiterlesenTake a Minute: The coral reefs of Wakatobi
