Beauty lies in the details. Look closely, not only for special animals or outstanding views but also for colours, patterns and shapes in the world around us. Details don’t have to be small. Forms and structures, with colours or texture, await us everywhere. With eyes wide open and from different angles nature creates art everyday in one way or another.

The underwater world isn’t only full of strange creatures, but also lots of colours, patterns and shapes which are captivating in itself. I love ordinary subjects, often overlooked by underwater photographers on the search for special creatures. The protected and thriving reefs around Wakatobi (Indonesia) were perfect to experiment with this idea: Art by nature.
